First of all, congratulations to Senator Barack Obama. Well done.
Now, to all of the Christians who have bombarded my emails, phone etc with various notes, I have a few comments.
I am not in a "bad place" spiritually. I am adjusting to this change in our country. Let me tell you what I am seeing and hearing.
First of all: STOP WITH THE "GOD IS IN CONTROL" STUFF!!
Why do I say that? BECAUSE I KNOW HE IS! Sheesh, give me a little credit.
Christians are in one or two different modes here in the first days after the election.
1 - They are running in the streets screaming and crying hoping Jesus comes to get them today.
2 - They are "super spiritual" and laying all kinds of words of wisdom and keep chanting "God is In Control" or some sort of line.
I, on the other hand, now that I have had a day to think things over, am here to help my spiritually weaker brothers and sisters to see the light.
We got our butts handed to us and that TICKS ME OFF!!! I have only lost ONE Presidential election before this, and I HATE LOSING!
Just like when my football teams lose, I get ticked. That is not a BAD thing, much as some would like to think.
Nehemiah teaches us that "righteous anger" is a good thing. Jesus had some "righteous anger" going on at the temple one day too.
I am ANGRY that Conservatism was defeated, and defeated soundly. Not just by Obama but by Republicans.
We can only blame the idiots in the Republican party for foisting this LIBERAL candidate on us in John McCain.
I am sick and tired of voting for the "lesser of two evils". I want to vote for the GUY WHO I WANT TO WIN!!
Let's look at the Presidential elections in my adult lifetime:1980 - Ronald Reagan. Pretty easy pick, top notch conservative, no problemo!
1984 - Same as above.1988 - Now things get a bit sticky. George H.W. Bush, no conservative, a bit liberal actually, but he is the Vice President and it is Micheal Dukakis he is running against, so I hold my nose as the diaper bag is starting to get a bit stinky, and pull the lever for Bush.
1992 - Interesting, I, as well as MANY conservatives are just flat cheesed off at Bush over the "read my lips" thing. This bozo from Arkansas, "surely can't win can he?" So, I am here to let you know, I voted for Bill Clinton. Ya, Ya I know, beat me up, but I thought the guy had something that we were lacking. Whatever.
1996 - Ok so I learned my lesson and now Clinton's out in my book, but, who to vote for? Bob Dole? Nice man, great American, not conservative. The diaper bag is starting to smell really ripe, I pull the lever for Dole, I have my first loss.
2000 - George W. Bush seems like a guy after Reagan's own heart, not like his daddy so I enthusiastically vote for him, back in the winner's column.
2004 - Now after 4 years I see that ol' GWB sold me a bill of goods, he is a liberal and he is spending MY money like a drunk sailor, but, am I gonna vote for Herman Munster (also known as John Kerry)? No, now the diaper bag is full of poop flies and so I really hold my nose and pull the lever for Bush.
2008 - What a dilemma. I can't vote for the Commie, Muslim, Anti-American, chain smoking freak from Chicago, but who am I stuck with? An angry little old white man who's biggest claim is he stayed in a POW camp for 5 years. Admirable, great American, cruddy Presidential material, he is almost as liberal as Hillary Clinton. This is where I am stuck this election, and the diaper bag is falling apart with baby poop falling out of it, I pull the lever for Big John and alas, Loss #2!
So, kids, what have we learned? Conservatism is dead. We must resurrect it.
I am actually able to separate my spiritualism and my politics as well as integrate them when necessary.
We MUST get back on the bus and start kicking butt and taking prisoners.
Get rid of the soft Republicans, root out the weak kneed Christians, destroy the limp wristed Democrats and start rebuilding this great land.
Yes we will need God!
Yes we must be in His Word daily, but shouldn't we have done that a long time ago?
NOW you are calling for it because you are skeeerrreed of the big bad Obama?
"Oh no, he's the Anti-Christ Bill!"
STOP!
Toughen up. Get right. Move on! Stop telling me "but Bill, he isn't a citizen" or some other stupid internet garbage. And don't you DARE tell me "God is working even now". No duh Maynard!! GEEZ LOUIZE. God IS working, but we AREN'T and that is stupid on our parts. Stop compromising. Stop making every freaking election about one subject. Open your eyes Christians, this country is crumbing in more ways than I can count. Does that mean I am scared? NO! Does that mean I am in despair? NO!
Does it mean I am ready to ramp it up a whole bunch? YES!!!!
End of election rant.

Lynching is OK Right? Obama? Palin?
Imagine the outrage if this were a house in, say, Virginia or Western Pennsylvania, heck how about George Fox University and the Halloween "decorations" were of Biden and Obama. I doubt the defense of "free speech" would fly and the homeowner would more likely face some sort of federal hate crime. But since this Californian is only "hanging" Gov. Palin . . . nothing wrong here:A mannequin portraying U.S. Republican vice-presidential nominee Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hangs by a noose as a mannequin portraying U.S. Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain protrudes from the chimney of a private residence in West Hollywood, California October 27, 2008. Part of a Halloween display, the likenesses drew complaints on Monday, but local officials said the homeowner was covered by free speech rights.
So, is lynching ok even in effigy? Anyone remember the George Fox story a few weeks ago? Why is this one ok? Why isn't the ACLU all over this?
Because the WHOLE FREAKING COUNTRY HAS GONE MAD!!!

One Network vs. Sarah Palin
NBC and MSNBC have gone to "all out war" against Sarah Palin.
Most of it smacks of "meow" as in cat fights, which of course ALL guys love and so the ratings are great.
Seriously though, the network folks at NBC have figured out that they don't have much to fear from John McCain. He will always work with the Dems to get whatever he needs, that's just the way he is, but this "crazy lady from Alaska"? Now that is a problem for them.
What happened to the Feminist movement?
For 40 years they have shoved "women's empowerment" down our throats and rightly so, but now for the FIRST TIME a woman, a woman governor mind you, is on the ticket of a major election and they have bailed on her!
Where is Gloria Steinem?
My personal opinion: ugly women hate Sarah. Sorry, but I have noticed that ALL of the female anchors that have blasted her are sort of.....well. homely.
Sarah is intelligent, gorgeous, men love her, and the feminists hate her. Why? You tell me!

Madame President?
Well, we have ourselves a real interesting situation now don't we?
The Democrats have nominated themselves a Black.
The Republicans have nominated a Woman.
Hmmm......so many choices.....
Opening thoughts?
I like Sarah Palin, politically, socially and she seems to be a very intelligent woman.
But, just like the Lord Messiah Barry Obama, she has NO experience.
She does look a lot better then he does, so she gets points for that.
As for what to do in November? Still not sure. I really would have preferred Mitt Romney as VP but I think they would have looked like two rich old white dudes so that was ruled out.
Tom Ridge? Not sure why he was dropped.
I guess I feel sort of sorry for Gov. Palin. I think she is being used politically. That's nothing new, but it still just doesn't feel right.
As for the messiah, all he lacked was robes the other night and he really would have looked even sillier. Why does he put on that accent thing on some speeches and turns it off in others? I thought Bill Clinton was long winded, 44 minute acceptance speech? Yikes, it was like being in Chemistry lab again.
This election, although perhaps "historic" is the most painful Presidential election in my 30 some odd years of voting eligiblity.
Where's Ross Perot when you need him?
I make my predictions now:
Obama wins with only 46% of the vote, as most Conservatives stay home as do the Hillaryistas, meaning we will have a President, just as we did with Clinton, who did not win even a majority of the votes, but rather, won by default.
Either way, McCain or Obama, if one of them dies in office, we are in really bad shape for a President. Joe Biden? Sarah Palin? Yikes.

Cindy McCain for Vice President? Why Not?
Cindy McCain
Not only is she the gorgeous wife of a US Senator and fashion model gorgeous I might add, she is probably the most capable and intelligent potential First Lady or even First Lady PERIOD. The qualifications I list below are just some highlights. I think I may have gotten over my problem with John McCain, as my candidate, I choose CINDY McCAIN for Vice President!!!
She graduated from Southern Cal and was a special-needs teacher. After her Dad died she became involved with his beer distributing firm and is now the chairwoman. Sales have doubled since she has taken over from her father and she was smart enough to get a pre-nup with John that insures she keeps the dough! No offense John, but she EARNED it!
She and John have a 19 year old serving in Iraq, another son in the Naval Academy, a daughter recently graduated from Columbia University, an adopted daughter (see below for her story) in high school, and a son who is the finance guy at the beer firm.
In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh. Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby with severe cleft palate. She did so without first telling her husband. The couple adopted the girl who has had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems.
She's active with 'Halo Trust' - an organization that works to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries.
She is active in the overseas mission 'Operation Smile', a charity for corrective surgery on children's faces. She makes many overseas trips, unannounced to help those in need.
She has had two back surgeries and became addicted to pain killers. She talks openly about it which she says is part of the recovery process.
I'm surprised the media is so quiet about her attributes.
She sounds more capable than Hillary or Obama for president and a heck of a lot more capable then Michelle for First Lady. We would really get two for the price of one. She’s a person with business and international experience. Although John did work for the firm for awhile when he left the Navy, she, however, has the real business experience. Very interesting.
Oh yes - one more thing - she has never said she is not proud of her country or that she has never been proud of her country. It seems she has just worked and acted to make it better.

McCain Surges to 4-Point Lead in USA Today/Gallup Poll
This just in! Although many of us, as Republicans are holding our noses, John McCain is leading! Part of this is due to the "audacity of hope" that kept Obama from actually Physically visiting our troops, instead he literally "called it in".
From CNN/Newsmax:
A surprising poll released Monday confirms Sen. Barack Obama's worst nightmare: he actually lost ground to Sen. John McCain after a global trip meant to buck up his sagging credentials in foreign and military policy.
The USA Today/Gallup poll has McCain leading Obama by four points, 49 percent to Obama's 45 percent, among likely voters.
Just last month, the same poll had McCain trailing by six points to the neophyte U.S. senator.
Among registered voters, McCain was just three points behind Obama -- a statistical dead heat.
The USA Today/Gallup poll is consistent with the Rasmussen tracking poll, which also shows Obama ahead by just three percentage points -- again a statistical tie.
The polls suggest that Obama's efforts to act like a president abroad -- even though he has yet to be elected -- may have backfired among American voters.
In Berlin, Obama spoke to 200,000 cheering Germans. The Democratic candidate used the foreign platform to express the view that he was a "fellow citizen of the world" and apologized for America's imperfections.
Later, he decided not to visit wounded American soldiers at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in southern Germany. When the Pentagon informed Obama's campaign that the hospital would be closed to the press and campaign staff -- only the senator and his official staff would be allowed in -- Obama decided to cancel the event.
McCain has been quick to seize on Obama's ill-advised decision to cancel the humanitarian visit to the hospital.
A McCain television commercial released on the Internet this past weekend chided Obama for his callous act.
"And now, he made time to go to the gym, but canceled a visit with wounded troops,” the ad says. “Seems the Pentagon wouldn’t allow him to bring cameras. John McCain is always there for our troops.”

"To Drill or not to Drill, that is the question"
The poll released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center shows nearly half of those surveyed — or 47 percent — now rate energy exploration, drilling and building new power plants as the top priority, compared with 35 percent who believed that five months earlier.
The Pew poll, conducted in late June, showed the number of people who consider energy conservation as more important declined by 10 percentage points since February from a clear majority to 45 percent. People are now about evenly split on which is more important.
"This shows the real impact of higher gas prices on the public," said Carroll Doherty, associate director for the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, which commissioned the telephone survey of 2,004 adults from June 18 to June 29. The margin of error was plus or minus 2.5 percentage points, slightly larger for subgroups.
The Pew poll, however, showed Republicans and Democrats moving closer together on the production vs. conservation dispute. The number of Democrats who said they saw increased production as the top priority jumped by 16 percentage points since February to 46 percent. Republicans holding that view declined from about half to 43 percent.
It sought to address general energy priorities, said Doherty.
Public frustration over high gas prices and a warming toward more energy production has surfaced elsewhere as well.

John McCain, War Hero Revisited. This is a MAN!
Here is Senator John McCain while a POW in Vietnam. He went through pure Hell when he was captured.
John McCain spent 5½ years in captivity as a POW in North Vietnam. His first-person account of that harrowing ordeal was published in U.S. News and World Report in May 1973. Shot down in his Skyhawk dive bomber on Oct. 26, 1967, Navy flier McCain was taken prisoner with fractures in his right leg and both arms. He received minimal care and was kept in wretched conditions that he describes vividly in the U.S. News special report:

Republican Debate Last Night
The picture above says it all!
First of all even though Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee were there, they were not really there much. It was 15-20 minutes each of McCain and Romney and about 1-3 minutes each for Paul and Huckabee.
Basically, McCain ducked every strong issue thrown at him, Romney answered very forcefully.
I have to tell you, I was impressed by Mitt Romney. I will be honest, the thought of a cult member as president doesn't thrill me, but at this point, unless Fred comes back, I have to start listening to Mitt.
Today he announced that he may not be spending on ads for Super Tuesday.
McCain is an absolute Liberal and he showed it last night. His over and over bashing at Romney over the issue of "timetables" for Iraq, it was a continuance of his smear tactics used in Florida.
Look, the man said, on the record, that Hillary Clinton would make a "fine president". He reaches across the aisle just fine, he lives on the other side of the aisle. His friends in Congress are all Democrats.
He is a war hero, no doubt about it. That is all I respect him for.
Stay here for more information.
PS: Huckabee and Paul will drop out either during or after Super Tuesday. If Huckabee and Paul stay in, they will be giving votes to McCain by splitting the Christian and Conservative vote.

Goodbye My Friend, Goodbye American Hope
"I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort," Thompson said. "Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people."
Thompson's fate was sealed last Saturday in the South Carolina primary, when he finished third in a state that he had said he needed to win.
In the statement, Thompson did not say whether he would endorse any of his former rivals. He was one of a handful of members of Congress who supported Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2000 in his unsuccessful race against George W. Bush for the party nomination.
Thompson, best known as the gruff district attorney on NBC's "Law & Order," placed third in Iowa and South Carolina, two states seemingly in line with his right-leaning pitch and laid-back style, and he fared even worse in the four other states that have held contests thus far. Money already tight, he ran out of it altogether as the losses piled up.
Republican race is wide openThompson, 65, departs the most wide open Republican race in half a century; in the six states that have voted, three candidates have scored wins.
In Florida, McCain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani are battling for the lead ahead of its Jan. 29 primary, while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee evaluates his next steps amid money troubles of his own.
Thompson's withdrawal capped a turbulent 10 months that saw him go from hot to not in short order.
He began toying with a presidential run last March, emboldened by a fluid Republican nomination fight and a restive conservative GOP base. He also was charmed by resounding calls for him to get into the race — and his meteoric springtime rise to the top of national and state polls.
Fans trying to draft him as a candidate launched an online effort, seizing on his conservative Senate voting record as well as his lumbering 6-foot-5 frame and deep baritone as they argued that he was right out of central casting. They painted him as the second coming of Ronald Reagan and the would-be savior of a Republican Party demoralized after electoral losses in 2006 at all levels of government.
Expectations rose higher — and his standing in polls started to fall as he failed to meet them.
Thompson played coy about his intentions all the while taking steps to prepare for a formal entrance into the race with a flourish. He cut ties with NBC, visited early voting states and delivered high-profile speeches. And, he started raising money and set up a preliminary campaign organization.
He delayed his expected summertime entrance in the race until fall, perhaps missing an opening created by McCain's near campaign implosion.
Lackluster fundraising, staff departuresAs he prepared to officially join the race, Thompson was plagued by lackluster fundraising; high-profile staff departures, including some prompted by the deep involvement in the campaign of his wife, Jeri, and less-than-stellar performances on the stump. Thompson also endured repeated questions about his career as a lobbyist and his thin Senate record.
Thompson formally announced his bid in early September but hit a rocky patch from the get-go.
His easygoing style and reputation for laziness translated into a light campaign schedule that raised questions about whether he wanted to be president badly enough to fight for it. A spate of inartful answers to campaign-trail questions — on everything from the Terri Schiavo case to Osama bin Laden — didn't help matters.
Though his star had faded, Thompson earned positive reviews for a series of debate performances last fall and earned an endorsement by the National Right to Life Committee. He made a strong effort in Iowa as the year ended with a bus tour of the lead-off caucus state.
But he finished third and went South Carolina, where he hoped to turn around his fortunes — but a win, like the nomination, did not materialize.

Are you a Betting Man or Woman???
So, professional gamblers are not always quoted when it comes to politics, but being the hardworking political junkie that I am, I found out what the professional gamblers are saying about the 2008 Presidential campaign.
Now remember, just like football, basketball, horse racing or any other sport, these guys don't lose very often. They know what they are doing.
So, for your amusement or perhaps to scare you a bit, below is the numbers according to the world's only Political Gambling website are the numbers:
DUBLIN, January 7, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Ireland's largest bookmaker, Paddy Power, are today claiming that the Democratic Nomination race is well and truly over and are already paying out on Barack Obama to be the successful Democratic nominee. The early payout signals a massive EUR50,000 ($75,000) payday to lucky punters who backed Obama over the recent number of weeks at various odds ranging from 4/1 to 4/9.
The unexpected decision by the Irish bookmaking firm comes almost a week after the Iowa primary election and just a day before the New Hampshire primary election where Barack is now the odds on favourite at 1/12 to demolish his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
Paddy Power, said: "From a betting point of view we reckon that it's game over for Hillary. With each passing day Obama is looking more like a certainty to get the Democratic vote and as far as we're concerned he's already past the post. So well done to all who backed him, your winnings await!"
Barack Obama has also overtaken Hillary Clinton for the first time in the betting to become the next US President. vvPaddy Power now make him the odds on favourite at 10/11 to become the first African-American President over Hillary Clinton who has now drifted to an incredible 5/2.

How I see New Hampshire Shaping Up
After viewing the debates in New Hampshire Saturday, I saw several things that were interesting.
1. Mitt Romney finally stopped looking like "Father Knows Best" and actually got down and dirty a bit. He really went after Huckabee on a couple occasions.
2. Mike Huckabee was not smiling quite as much as before, as I think he knows that now the "ah shucks" thing is not going to work and he is going to have to slug it out with the other candidates.
3. Fred Thompson got left out, but he reminded my of why I love him, he shows his disdain for the whole process and he reminded me of Walther Matthau in "Grumpy Old Men".
4. John McCain looked Presidential.
5. Barack Obama looked cool and confident.
6. Hillary Clinton looked very very panicked.
So, I believe on the Republican side this will be the New Hampshire outcome:
John McCain
Mitt Romney
Fred Thompson
Mike Huckabee
Rudy Giuliani
Democrats:
Barack Obama narrowly wins
Hillary Clinton
John Edwards
After New Hampshire comes Super Tuesday, and before that, I think at least one Republican will bow out, but I think that Republican may be a Vice Presidential candidate.
So, let the voting begin in New Hampshire!

Breaking Down the Iowa Caucus
Can you count how many plates were thrown on the Ex-Presidential Plane flying home to New York? haha. Hillary is having fits right now. She HAD the FREAKIN LEAD and LOST!! You think you have ever seen a P.O.'d lady before????
America is not ready for a candidate as divisive and nasty as this person is. Riding the fumes of her popular husband will not get you in.
In her concession speech last night she spent more time pimping her "It takes a village" book then any substance as usual.
Congratulations to both Sen. Obama and Gov. Huckabee.

On the Republican side, Huckabee did what should not have surprised anyone who follows politics.
Iowa Republicans that turn out for caucus are predominately Evangelical so he won. In exit polling over 75% said they were Born Again or Evangelical in belief. There are no Mormons in Iowa and the other candidates just didn't spend time or money there.
Huckabee will not be able to carry this to New Hampshire or definitely Super Tuesday, he doesn't have the money nor is he a true Conservative Republican. I am of course encouraged by Sen. Thompson's strong showing tied for 3rd in Iowa considering his late start and not having spent anywhere near the $10million that Mitt Romney spent. I am also encouraged by John McCain's showing again for the same reasons. McCain and Thompson are TRUE Republicans and they are the best choices for all Republicans.
One more interesting note, from today's Statesman-Journal, if you support your guy you should put your money where your mouth is. Apparently Mormons do.
Here is the breakdown of money given in the 973xx zip codes:
Democrats:
$14, 706 to Obama
$3,666 to Clinton
Republicans:
$25,035 to Romney
$500 to Huckabee
$750 to Thompson ( hey I wonder who led that one?)
Look for Obama to move on this momentum and I will venture to say now, that on the Republican side you may see a Thompson-Romney ticket this summer or perhaps a Giuliani-McCain ticket.
