Oregon Lottery Revenue Down, Ohhhh how sad...

According to the local fishwrap today, the Oregon Lottery, especially the Video Poker is way way down and it is attributed to two things: the snowy weather and the smoking ban.
My heart is breaking.
You know, when we first voted this lottery thing in back in the early 80's, I was one of the very few against it by the way, they promised that it would be money EXCLUSIVELY for schools and roads and would be in addition to normal budget money for the state.
NOW, it is over 50% of the Oregon Budget!
Can you imagine if it went away tomorrow? We would collapse as a state.
How do we as a state become COMPLETELY dependent on gamblers?
The "IDIOT TAX" as I call it, is purely voluntary that is true, but, to be so dependent on it?
And the commissioner is quoted today as saying, in relation to the down revenue: "It's been tough for everybody". UNBELIEVABLE!
Let's see commish: folks losing their jobs, folks losing their houses, folks losing their businesses and you have the nerve to say "it's been tough" for degenerate gamblers?
HO! HO!

Conservative Talk Radio is scaring Obama!
To the 58 million American voters who've refused to join Barack Obama's creepy cult, these are difficult times. With the mainstream media eagerly awaiting their Dear Leader's orders, independent-minded citizens are left with few places to turn as they race to save the country they love.
One non-believing medium their Messiah has yet to dismantle is talk radio, where Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have been pounding away at Obama's hollow rhetoric and empty promises. During the course of the campaign, the King Of All Egos went after the FOX News Channel host by name, but now he's aiming squarely at his most outspoken foe: El Rushbo himself.![]()
From the New York Post:WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
Beyond the absurdity of a Democrat barking orders at his political opposition, he's especially foolish to air his fear of Limbaugh and talk radio in a public setting. Now, what was long suspected by conservatives has been verified by the man himself."You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.
"There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats," the official said. "We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done."
That wasn't Obama's only jab at Republicans today.
In an exchange with Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) about the proposal, the president shot back: "I won," according to aides briefed on the meeting.
"I will trump you on that."
The timing was no coincidence: after a rocky first week in office, the Obamists are also faced with a resurgent Fox News Channel, where ratings have been climbing since the moment he took office.
And after a wildly successful fall ratings survey, talk radio is looking forward to record numbers with the installation of the Obamists.
Obama's words are also perfectly timed to meddle in another big battle underway right now: the race for leadership of the Republican Party, a fight that pits conservative grassroots supporters against traditional, elitist blueblood interests.
emember the mushy moderates who were claiming Rush was ineffective and overrated? If that were the case, then why would Obama be attacking him by name?
After a rough start for the Obamists this week, the last thing they want is a viable, effective opposition movement. Rush, Sean and others provide hope that America can be saved from this budding dictator and his cultist followers.
But as the new regime oversteps its bounds, it is far more likely to elevate talk hosts to heights they've never before seen, proving Obama is truly a rank amateur.
Here in local talk radio we are finding our listenership is increasing by huge degrees. The latest ratings show our audience has doubled since the last period. People know where they are getting the truth and they are loyal to our advertisers. We are experiencing growth in a "down" economy.
I believe much of that is due to Providence, but also to a mentality here locally and probably Nationally, of "circle the wagons". Listeners are listening, advertisers are advertising and the two are meeting like never before in my 25+ years in the business.
So take heart Conservative, unless the Messiah shuts us down with the "Fairness Doctrine", we shall be the "voice in the wilderness" for the next four years!

Top 10 Sit-Coms of all time
Well, since my top 100 movies list was so popular.....how about MY Top 10 Situation Comedy shows of all time?
Now, this list is based on QUALITY not length of run or anything but, great, enduring comedy.
So without further ado:
10. Friends (I never really liked the show, but realize it's importance to that generation)
9. The Simpsons (I know it's a cartoon, but it's cultural relevance is without question)
8. The Bob Newhart Show (The original, with Suzanne Pleshette. I mean what other show inspired a drinking game? "Hi Bob!"
7. The Mary Tyler Moore Show (The FIRST real show about a woman in charge of her own life, plus one of the greatest cast ensembles ever)
6. The Cosby Show (The one with the kids. To me first realistic Black American show)
5. Seinfeld (Not much to explain, it was just plain FUNNY)
4. Cheers (Great cast, great writing, enduring comedy)
3. M*A*S*H (What can I say? Barely edged out of #2)
2. All in the Family (This show was so far ahead of it's time that it wouldn't even be able to air in this PC day and age. Norman Lear was a genius, as was Jean Stapleton, and of course Carrol O'Connor. This show broke every rule of television and yet brought it to us with love and care. Watch Archie Bunker evolve over the years. It tackled social issues with great humor.)
and..........................
#1. The Andy Griffith Show (This show is still, by far the funniest tv show in history. I dare anyone to watch one episode and not laugh out loud, and all of it done without sex jokes, racial jokes, put down humor or any of the things that make today's programs "funny". This was one of the greatest casts of all time, most went on to great fame later. I learned many life lessons from Andy Taylor and his boy Opie. By far, it endures over all other programs!)
Well, there you go. Now it's your turn!

What the heck is Rush Limbaugh Smoking now?

First of all, though I work for a Conservative radio station, one that carries the Rush Limbaugh show, I am NOT a Rush Limbaugh fan.
Why?
1 - Since he went on the air in 1988 with his talk show (after failing as a deejay) he wound up costing a lot of my very good radio friend's jobs.
2 - He is a fat blowhard.
3 - He is a drug addict that can't admit it.
4 - I tire of his act, sort of like John Madden. Liked him the first 200 times he said the same things, but after 2,000, not so good anymore.
Now I am really, really TICKED at Rush.
Why?
On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, evidently he feels that the Presidential Inauguration is worth carrying on his radio show for the entire 3 hours with no commentary and more importantly to we, the affiliate stations, NO COMMERCIALS!
Now, if Rush, with his $48 million contract wants to abstain from playing HIS commercials, that is his own business, but to ask us, the affiliates to not play OUR commercials, from OUR local sponsors is OUTRAGEOUS!
He has gone too far this time.
This date in infamy, January 20th, will not be more than a blip on my calendar, in fact I will probably be wearing all black and fasting with ash and camel dung on my head.
Whatever, I don't think 3 hours of live coverage on a so called "conservative" radio program is legit!
This my valiant friends who believe in TRUE CONSERVATISM is another reason why we lost this election.
You might ask "WHY IS RUSH DOING THIS?"
The answer is very simple: CYA. (If you need that translated, ask someone else)
Rush is making sure that WHEN, not IF, Obama starts attacking talk radio, he can say: "Hey I was a good boy, I played your speech man!"
IF that is his reasoning, then he is a coward and a fraud.
I have emailed both Rush and his producers letting them know my feelings as well as those of our listeners, who, are loyal Rush fans.
Blast away now!

Barack Obama goes to Hawaii: Who's Paying?

The Obama's have flown to Hawaii, on a chartered United 767 to stay in a $7 million dollar mansion that cost about $70,000 a week to rent. Some Christmas vacation huh?
He is asking we regular folk to "tighten our belts" and be careful while he flies on a CHARTERED United 767, a plane that holds over 200 people and flies from LA to London, so not necessary for a Chicago to Honolulu flight, this man is just waving his "carbon footprint" in our faces!! The Audacity of Dope!
