Is Barack Obama a legal US Citizen?

The following is an article from the July 7, 2008, issue #27 from "The American Free Press" Newspaper, an article by Assistant editor, Pat Shannon.
"It now appears that Barack Obama is consitutionally ineligible for the office of president.
John McCain's eligibility was established in 1964, when courts ruled Sen. Barry Goldwater was eligible although he was born in Arizona when it was a territory, not a state. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone when it was a U.S. territory and, even as the controlled media continues to ignore the ineligibility of Obama, it will not go away. While few doubt that the Democrats will manage to pull off his nomination, all remain poised to view the legal performance.
The first hurdle will be having Obama produce his birth certificate, which so far he has refused to do, and prove that he was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961, as he has always claimed. There is speculation that his American mother may have brought him to Honolulu shortly after his birth in Kenya , but no proof of that has been shown.
According to the law on the books at the time of Obama's birth, the office of president requires that a candidate be a natural citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. citizen parents. Since he was not, should it be proven that Obama was not born in Hawaii , as claimed, he is ineligible without further debate. Now, assuring that he was born there, he has another problem.
According to a legal researcher who has contacted the AFP, U.S. law very clearly states: "If only one parent is a U.S. citizen at the time of one's birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for a minimum of 10 years, five of which must be after the age of 16." And therein lies Obama's new problem. Barack Obama's father was never a U.S. citizen. Interestingly, there isn't much paperwork on the marriage of Obama's parents, and this has a few researchers speculating that it never took place at all.
On page 27 of "Obama: From Promise to Power", David Mendell writes: "Obama later confessed that he never searched for the government documents on the marriage, although Madelyn (Obama's maternal grandmother) insisted they were legally married." He also notes that Obama's father apparently was not legally divorced from his first wife back in Kenya at the time, a point of contention that ultimately led to their separation. This also would suggest that there may never have been any legal marriage by Obama's parents at all, but the Constitution does not ban an illegitimate child from the White House, as long as he was born inside the U.S.
Obama's mother was born in Kansas and was only 18 when Obama was born. This means even though she satisfied the citizen requirement for 10years, she was not a citizen for at least five years prior to Obama's birth. In essence, the mother alone is not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. citizenship. At most, two years elapsed from his mother turning 16 to the time of Barack Obama's birth when she was 18. His mother would have needed to have been 16 + 5 = 21 years old at the time of Barack Obama's birth for him to be a natural-born citizen. Barack Obama was already three years old at the time his mother turned 21. Technically, Obama should have been naturalized as a citizen, but that, of course, would disqualify him from holding the office of president.
If the allegations are accurate, America could install in January of 2009 a new president who is not even a U.S. citizen, neither born nor naturalized.
It should be demanded that Obama produce his 1961 Hawaiian birth certificate. If he cannot satisfactorily do so, he should be deemed immediately ineligible to hold the office of president."

Yep, eys wide open baby.
Geez, I had to get out the barf bag last night I mean "Isn't she lovely"? for michelle? EEK.

Gotta love ol' "drive my girl into the river and have another scotch" teddy speaking too. Great to see him back from the grave.

Looking so forward to trouser dropping tips from Billy Clinton tomorrow night.

Yep my eyes are open, are yours?

I'm confused. The article says his mother was born in Kansas. Under U.S. law, she is automatically a citizen--unless she renounced it. There is no time requirement. You are automatically a citizen for life no matter how many years you spend abroad.

Also, wouldn't his birth certificate be public information? And by that admission wouldn't a real journalist be able to get a copy?

I'll start signing as Matt since I can't get a log in...

So, some simple fact-checking has revealed that Obama had released his birth certificate months ago and the discrepencies do not exist. Alvin T. Onaka, the Hawaii State Registrar, has authenticated Obama's birth certificate to be real "beyond ANY arguement". Keeping your eyes open is great if they see the truth and not what the opposition prints at random. Thought you'd like to know since the truth seemed to have been missed in that article....Matt.

I can't wait to see the Republican convention. I suppose topics may include..."I'm not a real drug addict if they're prescription drugs", or "How to hide your homosexuality", and "How to use religion to fool people into voting for you". Why waste your time bashing one side when both are equally awful? Do you vote for the rich white guy or the rich black guy? Neither one will make a difference...Matt.

Bill,
I have plenty of hobbies and I actually enjoy the exchanges. As a former teacher, it still makes me feel good to tirelessly and thanklessly teach people the truth. My father lives in Eugene and I love Oregon, so I know the redneck thing is a myth. I've actually always found Oregon to be rather progressive.
This has nothing to do with a like or dislike of your site. I am merely letting you know that your story on this is flat wrong and false. I have gotten no answers to the questions I have posed and know exactly why. As Christians, we should be excited about knowing the truth and spreading, not lies for political reasons. I've found little disagreement and even less real discussion of the issues you pose here and am merely adding my two cents to your public forum. I don't pretend to be smarter than you, just more open to both sides of an issue. Since most of your "fans" do nothing but agree, I feel that someone should let them know when something is true or false--even if you choose not to do it. I feel this is one of the many current issues facing us today. Not knowing the facts before you make a decision is dangerous. Just look at what has happened to this country over the last 8 years because of this mentality. Not to mention the blind promotion of lies...Matt.

No matt, you truly DON'T HAVE A LIFE.
Trolling around some dude's blog does not a life make.
And you DON'T KNOW OREGON I can guarantee you that.
The Oregon you have heard of is only about 20 years old.
I am a lot older than that.
I can remember when it was a backwoods place that NO ONE wanted to move to.
Now, thanks to a bunch of hippies from SANFRAN, it's "vogue" to live in the "green" of Oregon.
Only it ain't green anymore, it's just one more big friggin city full of whackos.
Not everyone lives in Portland, and if you would investigate your political map you will find that only 4 counties generally vote Democrat and 3 of them are in the Portland area.
No, we rural folk still vote Republican.

I don't get the necessecity to insult and tell me I have no life. I never said Oregon was Democrat, but progressive. And, you still haven't removed a story that is a lie. Why not? And you bad mouthing me isn't going to make me go away. You have a blog on a public internet and get the good with the bad. To take 15 minutes out of my day to seethe silliness that is being spewed is not a waste of my time. As long as you are not telling the truth, I will remind you...Matt.
And my father has lived there for over 30 years.

Um, you still have this story up and it is false. It has been proven to be false. I thought your blog was above this. And, by the way, according to my political map, wasn't Oregon a blue state?
Matt.

matt, the posts don't disappear, and I don't pull them.
I have work to do, and they will eventually fall off the page and the poor sheep will not be able to read it anymore.
Thank you for helping us all understand the "truth".

You can pull them if you wanted to. And truth doesn't need to be quoted. The post and the story are a lie and have been proven so. Why are you so afraid to take it down? You also didn't answer my question about Oregon being a Blue State...Matt

matt, I won't pull any posts as they are mine and I can do what I want.

As for Oregon being blue, please examine the post on top of page to answer your questions, from the 2004 election and you will see that what I have said all along, only 4 counties voted blue.
Oregon is a red state whether CNN or CBS or NBC or the man in the moon says so.

I'm well aware that this is your site and you do as you please. I'm glad it's on here. I just thought you were more into telling the truth than not...Matt.
