Movie Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Ok kids here is my fearless review of this good old American Icon: Indiana Jones!
Saw it Monday afternoon, again at the new Independence Theater (which I highly recommend as the matinees are only $6!).
I am a big fan of the series (or more specifically "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", not "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" which was downright HORRIBLE). I always loved Steven Spielberg and George Lucas' vision of a 1930's-1940's serial style movie.
This one did not disappoint in that, but, I was disappointed in many things.
It had way too many slow moments. Stop talking Indy and start punching!
Instead of Nazi's we have Commie Reds from Russia. So, that was pretty much already done, these bad guys were however, not as menacing as the Nazi's.
Cate Blanchett was great as a "Natasha" type Russian. There is even an inside joke on how bad her accent is.
Without giving away too much, this movie felt like "Indiana Jones meets E.T."
I would rank it third behind "Raiders" and "Last Crusade".
Harrison Ford looks great, although he is showing his age. Loved seeing Marian Ravenwood again, and it has some good special effects, but the original tension from the old films just isn't quite there.
I give it one thumb up, it is worth seeing, but don't kill yourself to do it.
For the wee ones, just as the previous movies in the series, there are some scary things but no more or less then the others.
Have fun!

Now, this is my kind of post, Mr. Post!!!!! So refreshing and wonderful. Keep this kind comin'.

I loved Cate's accent, it was cute. I loved the ending as far as Indiana and his old fling, as well as how his hat rolled into the scene. But as far as the story line, they should have stuck to the tried and true Nazi's, or Russians this time. That would have been much better that the premise of this one. That was bad ... really really bad!
