McCain Surges to 4-Point Lead in USA Today/Gallup Poll

This just in! Although many of us, as Republicans are holding our noses, John McCain is leading! Part of this is due to the "audacity of hope" that kept Obama from actually Physically visiting our troops, instead he literally "called it in".

From CNN/Newsmax:

A surprising poll released Monday confirms Sen. Barack Obama's worst nightmare: he actually lost ground to Sen. John McCain after a global trip meant to buck up his sagging credentials in foreign and military policy.

The USA Today/Gallup poll has McCain leading Obama by four points, 49 percent to Obama's 45 percent, among likely voters.

Just last month, the same poll had McCain trailing by six points to the neophyte U.S. senator.

Among registered voters, McCain was just three points behind Obama -- a statistical dead heat.

The USA Today/Gallup poll is consistent with the Rasmussen tracking poll, which also shows Obama ahead by just three percentage points -- again a statistical tie.

The polls suggest that Obama's efforts to act like a president abroad -- even though he has yet to be elected -- may have backfired among American voters.

In Berlin, Obama spoke to 200,000 cheering Germans. The Democratic candidate used the foreign platform to express the view that he was a "fellow citizen of the world" and apologized for America's imperfections.
Later, he decided not to visit wounded American soldiers at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in southern Germany. When the Pentagon informed Obama's campaign that the hospital would be closed to the press and campaign staff -- only the senator and his official staff would be allowed in -- Obama decided to cancel the event.

McCain has been quick to seize on Obama's ill-advised decision to cancel the humanitarian visit to the hospital.
A McCain television commercial released on the Internet this past weekend chided Obama for his callous act.
"And now, he made time to go to the gym, but canceled a visit with wounded troops,” the ad says. “Seems the Pentagon wouldn’t allow him to bring cameras. John McCain is always there for our troops.”

I'd prefer to see McCain win, but I'm stymied by his stance on illegal immigration and the "sky is falling" global warming frenzy. We don't need another "leader" apologizing to the world on behalf of the United States. If we could take the very best of Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan and roll them into one.......is there anyone who meets that criteria??? I'm tired of people who mock the country that provides them the freedom to speak their mind. I don't think that we've ever recovered from the 60's. With the freedom provided comes a greater responsibility; a responsibility to sacrifice personal gain for the good of the whole. We are a republic for Pete's sake!

I agree, Mick, in that we have never recovered from the 60's. It's been down hill morally ever since.

However, I don't think McCain is apologizing for being America. I didn't read his actual statement on that, so perhaps I missed something. I can understand him apologizing for our delay in taking action to prevent the problem from becoming tragic and urgent, but certainly not for us being a great country. McCain is extremely patriotic toward America, perhaps one of the most patriotic candidates/Presidents we've had in a long time. Or don't you see that?

Now for the more important question. How did the boys like Old Faithful? Any good comments, like my favorite from Kristi Butler Weathers. "That's it? Okay, let's go."

I was speaking primarily of Barack and Michelle Obama. The boys really liked the paint pots and the pools at West Thumb. Andrew thought that they were "stinky." Matt's going through a fishing obsession and seems to be unable to think about anything else. Andrew was on a hard target search for Utah license plates as well as locating piles of wildlife "poo"!

I find it interesting that there is no allowance to be critical of your country on your blog. We are taught to apologize for our mistakes, so what makes it any different to hear a president admit when he is wrong. What would Jesus do? In case you didn't know, the founding fathers expected us to be critical and distrusting of our leaders. Does anyone on your blog read history or understand it? And, you are also wrong about the moral problems here. Polling shows that 72% of Americans consider themselves religious. Does that mean 28% is causing all of the problems in the country?

And, the four presidents you mentioned were all extremely flawed leaders and I think it would be helpful to understand that they were not perfect in spite of your wanting them to be and your need to live in the past.

The 60's were an eye-opener and necessary even if you think it was awful for Americans to start telling themselves the truth and question our past and future direction.

You can be as critical as you want but I find it more curious that one would post as "anonymous".
Where is your courage Buckwheat?
