Time to Take a Stand on Guns

It’s time for NBC to let Bob Costas go.  This coming from a fan of Costa’s work over the years.  I admire his knowledge of sports and his ability to deliver it to us but what he did last night goes far beyond the sports world.  He took advantage of a situation that was IN the sports world to promote his own political agenda.
When Rush Limbaugh did his Sandra Fluke thing (arguably it was very true) he was flambayed by the media and punished economically costing him perhaps millions of dollars.
When Don Imus spoke about the Rutgers women’s basketball team he was fired (side note: he actually didn’t say anything, it was his sidekick Bernard that uttered the infamous “nappy headed ho’s” phrase.
The Second Amendment is under assault, don’t underestimate or be confused on that issue.  In case you weren’t watching Sunday Night Football last night, Bob Costas, who during halftime of the NFL game, quoted from a column by Fox Sports Columnist Jason Whitlock

"What I believe is, if he didn’t possess or own a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today. Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it."

What we MUST understand is that there are many like Costas who suggest a ban on American’s right to "keep and bear arms".

Every time a situation arises that involves a shooting, the Bob Costa’s of the entertainment world jump to their feet and cry “foul!”
Now I fully admit that as a talk show host, I am certainly a part of that “entertainment world” and could easily be lumped into that category but I am here to tell you that I proudly embrace the “right to bear arms” and I bear them daily.  I have safely and soundly used guns since my first weapon given to me by my father when I was 12 years old.  I hunt, I shoot for fun and at times I carry for protection of my family and I.

Even today we have the news that our own Attorney General has joined with 9 other state AG’s to oppose stopping licensed gun owners carry their concealed firearms across state lines.  This continued assault against will not stop, neither will my resolve!

I strongly advise that each and everyone of us, band together, join together and stand up for our God given Constitutional rights and NOT give in to the Hollywood types who have no idea what REAL freedom constitutes.  Join the Oregon Firearms Federation at: www.oregonfirearms.org or a local chapter of a Gun Owners of America Association or as a last resort, the National Rifle Association.

One Network vs. Sarah Palin

NBC and MSNBC have gone to "all out war" against Sarah Palin.
Most of it smacks of "meow" as in cat fights, which of course ALL guys love and so the ratings are great.
Seriously though, the network folks at NBC have figured out that they don't have much to fear from John McCain. He will always work with the Dems to get whatever he needs, that's just the way he is, but this "crazy lady from Alaska"? Now that is a problem for them.

What happened to the Feminist movement?
For 40 years they have shoved "women's empowerment" down our throats and rightly so, but now for the FIRST TIME a woman, a woman governor mind you, is on the ticket of a major election and they have bailed on her!
Where is Gloria Steinem?
My personal opinion: ugly women hate Sarah. Sorry, but I have noticed that ALL of the female anchors that have blasted her are sort of.....well. homely.
Sarah is intellig
ent, gorgeous, men love her, and the feminists hate her. Why? You tell me!

2008 Summer Beijing Olympics, are you watching?

I am really looking forward to America kicking some butt in the Olympics, especially in my favorite Olympic games, Basketball and Boxing. I am disappointed that this will be the last year for Baseball.
I am looking forward to the track as well, of course the doping in track and field makes me a bit skeptical about the outcomes.
The big story, I think, will be Mike Phelps. Will he break Mark Spitz's record on total gold medals?
It all begins this Friday!
Please post your thoughts about this Olympics and any memories of past Olympics and I will keep it up to date throughout the Games.
Keep adding posts to this as the Games progress!

Bill Post......Biggest Loser

I want to begin this by saying, this is NOT A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION!!!
I decided back in November after Thanksgiving that I was a fat pig and was not playing as good at golf as in past years and attributed much of that to my weight and lack of good conditioning.
So, I waited until the Courthouse had their specials and joined last week.
This week I begin my first ever group classes, bike riding and a power active class.
Now I used to lift weights and am pretty experienced at that sort of individual stuff so this whole class thing will be new to me. Another really cool thing for me and my son Kai, is that we both love to play basketball, and now I can join him at the court and show him the "old school" style of BBAll play.
I went there with him the other day, knee brace on, short shorts, tight tshirt, socks to the knees, you know, the whole '70's baby! After going up 5-0 I started pooping out and lost 11-8. Kai is now aware that the old man can hoop it up! One of his buddies, a little guy who has long pointy elbows, found out that this old man can throw elbows (and full hip bumps) too and 180 pounds of elbow hurts a lot more than 100 pounds of elbow. After he got up off the floor he stopped driving into me with those razor sharp elbows in my chest.
PS: I hate that "Biggest Loser" show on NBC. I feel so bad for those people, not that they are fat but because for a few bucks, they allow the whole world to see them step on a scale with their shirts off and stand there looking pathetic. (By the way, how come the dudes all have to take their shirts off so that we have to see their "man boobs" and the ladies don't have to even though some of those men have bigger boobs then the ladies? Ya ya I know, this is gross and it is wrong thinking on my part but I ask these questions as my lovely wife makes me watch this stupid show while I am trying to go to sleep)
Yes I know they lose the weight and all is good in the end but I just couldn't humiliate myself that way.
Anyway, I plan to not just lose some weight, but more importantly, get my heart better, gain stamina and put on some muscle so that perhaps by Spring I will be able to swing my clubs good enough to beat the evil Dan Bowers in golf.
