MY newspaper.....the Salem Statesman Journal has endorsed......Gov. Mitt Romney for President of the United States!  Yes THAT Statesman Journal!
Here's the official editorial endorsement.

I think the Earth may turn on it's axis.  I must give proper credit to the team at the editorial board at the Statesman Journal.  I think they did a great job of weighing all of the information and coming up with this decision.  They will now have HELL to pay with the regular readers who have already started in on their blasts!  See the comments after the article in the link above (though the tide is starting to turn in the comments section as of this writing).

Newspapers across the nation are coming to their senses.  They are going out of business in many cases.  The S-J lost it's printing presses and now prints the paper in Portland.  This loss of the print media across America is also partly to blame at the feet of the current occupant of the White House.  His economic policies are what got us into this mess and now, even the lapdog media, are turning against him and taking off the rose colored glasses.  God Bless America and God Bless the Statesman Journal!

Daniel 1:8

⁸ But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself.

Daniel 2:21-23
²¹ “It is He who changes the times and the epochs;
He removes kings and establishes kings;
He gives wisdom to wise men
And knowledge to men of understanding.
²² “It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And the light dwells with Him.
²³ “To You, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise,
For You have given me wisdom and power;
Even now You have made known to me what we requested of You,
For You have made known to us the king’s matter.”

So, who REALLY elects Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, etc.?  As we approach the last two weeks of this 2012 election season.  Daniel, being a captive of the Babylonians, was asked to eat and drink from the King's own table.  This was against Daniel's faith.  At the time, Daniel was a young man.  In verses 3-7 the story is told of how four young men of Israel were chosen:

 3} Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal family and of the nobles, ⁴ youths in whom was no defect, who were good-looking, showing intelligence in every branch of wisdom, endowed with understanding and discerning knowledge, and who had ability for serving in the king’s court; and he ordered him to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans. ⁵ The king appointed for them a daily ration from the king’s choice food and from the wine which he drank, and appointed that they should be educated three years, at the end of which they were to enter the king’s personal service. ⁶ Now among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. ⁷ Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; and to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach and to Azariah Abed-nego.
  
These young men, Daniel being one of them, were young, strong and wise.  They were the "cream of the crop" so to speak.  Later, three of them would be put into a furnace of fire yet lived to praise God!  Daniel however was given incredible wisdom by God.  Why?
It all goes back to the verse at the top: "he chose not to defile himself".  He was pure, he was faithful to God.  WE Americans have chosen to defile ourselves.  We have made movie stars and sports stars our heroes.  We have allowed alcohol, drugs and pornography to ruin our families.  We have let television divide our time with our maker.  We have established "idols" and "false gods".  We have skirted as close to the things of this world as we can but don't expect there to be consequences.  Sometimes we've even done this with politics.  The most well intentioned "patriots" of the "tea party" movement, thinking that the US Constitution is the "end all, be all" have missed the mark.  GOD is the one (as it states above) who "removes and establishes kings".  GOD knows the hidden and profoun things.  GOD knows all, we know nothing.  Yet, as with Daniel, if we do not defile ourselves, listen to His voice through His Word, we can know enough!  We, as His ambassadors, must vote, and we must vote with our Spirit led hearts but ultimately GOD is the one that will make the decisions.

What America needs to focus on now more than ever before is to STOP defiling herself!  The church in America needs to stop being a "feel good" place and preach the Gospel of Christ which says there is only "ONE way, ONE truth and ONE life" to the Father.  Jesus Christ.  There is NO other way.  The church once led this great nation in all matters, but now, sadly it is relegated to the back room.  Time to stand up!

When you vote, pray for God's holy wisdom to help you in each and every decision.  God's not a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, tea party or any other party, He is GOD, the I AM!  HE knows what is best for us.    
  
By the way, on the Daniel and his 3 friends story?  Here's how it ended:

Point being: the faithfulness and the fact that they did not "defile" themselves even in the face of death brought the mightiest king in the world to his knees before the ONE true God and caused his nation to believe!  THAT is how Americans need to behave.  THAT is how nations will once again admire and respect us.  I believe old Nebuchadnezzer had a real "come to Jesus" moment and it was all because of the faith and resolve of these four young men.

Welcome Senator Betsy Close!

As documented in THIS STORY, the decision has been made by the combined Linn and Benton County Commissioners, Betsy Close is the new Senator from District 8 in Oregon!

She is a solid Conservative and great part of the Republican Party and frankly I was very surprised that the commissioners chose her.  Now she has a tough decision to make: $22,000 a year to be a State Senator or take a chance and win the Benton County Commissioners race and the $70,000 that job pays....(I'd take the Senate seat but her husband my think differently).

So, now I believe we not only have a great new senator in the legislature but a strong candidate in 2014.

How to become the "1%" in 1 easy step

The "young lady" who was peppered sprayed in the now famous photograph on November 11, 2011 in Portland is....wait for it....suing.  
From the Oregonian this morning:
A woman who was pepper sprayed by Portland police during the Occupy protests nearly a year ago plans to file a civil suit on Friday, alleging excessive force.

The suit accuses two Portland police officers -- officers Doris Paisley and Jeffrey McDaniel -- of using excessive force against Liz Nichols, who was arrested on Nov. 17 outside Chase Bank on the corner of Southwest Yamhill and Sixth Avenue. The suit says that Paisley pushed her baton against Nichols' throat and shoved her backward, stopping Nichols' breathing. When Nichols shouted back, the suit says, McDaniel gave her a face-full of pepper spray.
The suit, announced by Nichols' attorney Kenneth Kreuscher, also accuses the city of Portland of adopting an unconstitutional policy of using pepper spray as a means of crowd control during demonstrations of what it categorized as peaceful protesters.

McDaniel sprayed several people during the anti-bank protests but the blast against Nichols was captured in a photograph by The Oregonian's Randy L. Rasmussen. The photograph was included in the New York Times Pictures of the Year in 2011 and earned first place for breaking news in the National Headliners awards.

Kreuscher, who announced the suit, said in a news release he will file it Friday in Multnomah County Courthouse. The two will also hold a news conference at 10 a.m. The suit will mark the latest action in the long-running litigation. Nichols' currently faces what amounts to a traffic violation in a trial scheduled for Oct. 8.

Now note in the picture below, the SAME lady just TWO DAYS LATER, Liz Nichols, 20, originally from Arkansas but who came to Occupy Portland from Seattle, was the last protestor to be cleared from the downtown parks. Her right arm, handcuffed inside a plastic barrel filled with some solid, has to be sawed free by Portland Police in Terry Schrunk Plaza.  Note the goggles to protect from pepper spray. (well she did learn something I guess)

Replacing Frank Morse in Senate District 8

As you probably know, state Senator Frank Morse resigned from his position in Senate District 8 earlier this summer.  Though I never felt he was a good Conservative State Senator, I felt we could get a stronger Senator from that district.  Last night was the chance to get that Conservative Senator.

The Precinct Committee Persons (PCP'S) nominated 3 candidates out of 9 to present to the Linn and Benton County Commissioners for them to choose the new Senator from District 8.  

I am very happy to say that out of 80 PCP'S, 66 showed up.  I am not very happy that the "Ronulans" or "Paulbots" or "Paulestinians" (whichever you prefer) were out in force just as they promised they would.  They delayed the voting until after 11pm with motions, "point of orders" and general rules, procedures and resolution matters rather than getting to the VERY important task of the night: electing a new Senator from that district.  You see, these Ron Paul cult followers find that rules, procedures and resolutions are more important than elections.  Their "agenda" is more relevant and should be more closely paid attention to then the election process.  Of course the real tactic here is to wear the regular folks down so that they will tire of all of the debate and just go home at 11pm and leave only the Paul contingent to vote.  They have a real desire to destroy the Republican Party from within and they are having some success.

No matter, three candidates are now available for the county commissioners to choose from:
Former State Representative Betsy Close
Corvallis insurance agent Clint Johnson 
Samaritan Health Services CEO Larry Mullins

Betsy Close is a solid Conservative Republican whom I have full confidence in.  Here is her website as she was also running for County Commissioner. 

Clint Johnson is an insurance agent and not having much information other than what he has on his Facebook page, I can't say how he stands.

Larry Mullins is the CEO of a very successful hospital system in the area.  Here is a video of him speaking to the Oregon Senate in 2011.

The scary part is this: IF the county commissioners can not decide on one of these three, the decision goes to Governor John Kitzhaber.  They have 10 days to decide.

Benson High School Teacher Faces Down Planned Parenthood

This is the teacher at Benson High School who said "NO" to Planned Parenthood coming into his classroom to teach sex ed.
Bill Diss is his name and here is a letter he sent out recently seeking your prayer support:

September 17, 2012, a group of people came into my classroom called TOP (Teen Outreach Program). I was notified the week before that they would be coming into my tutorial class where I have been working with the children on basic math skills and helping them in other subjects.

I really felt that presence of evil in the classroom and I asked the fellow for his card and it turned out the people were from Planned Parenthood. I asked them to leave and they went to the principal's office and then a few minutes later the principal and a vice principal came to remove me from class and directed me to go to the principal's office.

I so ask you to please pray for my wife Cathy; this has been so very hard on her and it been going on since March of 2007 when I first got involved with trying to stop Planned Parenthood up by school. She has been stoic and supportive but it is killing her.

I am also asking your prayers for all of the children and I am begging you to even do more. Please read the attachment that Planned Parenthood set home with the children. The last sheet is especially scary because Planned Parenthood has the right to do medical treatment and to use the children in videos and pictures. The Planned Parenthood up on MLK Jr. Blvd. put together these videos (PP's view of abstinence, oral sex, love song, etc.) These are so foul and with computer technology, faces and bodies can easily be changed on videos and pictures.

I am also begging and pleading with you to notify parents, someway and somehow to really watch what they sign. Planned Parenthood is aggressively after the children at Benson, Roosevelt, Jefferson and Madison. I think you know that at the beginning of the school year parents sign many papers and they might not know what they are signing. Planned Parenthood can also sterilize children without parental notification if the child is 15 or over.

On Tuesday I went back to school and the principal told me I had to sit through Planned Parenthood's discussion and they were extremely aggressive obtaining children's signatures by promising them all sorts of gifts and cash. Planned Parenthood is also working on some schools in the Salem area.

I think you know that 40 Days for Life is starting next week and I cannot think of a better outreach then to protect our children by notifying parents. I think it also good for all to contact the district and let them know that we do not want Planned Parenthood in the schools.

All of this is for the children. It is is not a Bill issue and but today I would so appreciate your prayers as I have to meet with the principal and my lawyer and I have no idea how many lawyers or other district personnel will be present from the district. Two years ago during the school year I was part of 16 meetings with union people, lawyers, principals, etc.

As they say, "Life goes on." Let us make sure that happens to our precious children. They are so lovable as I look out at them, and so sweet, and some have had really rotten lives. Please, please, please let them not be harmed in any other way.

You will note in the literature that the group is led locally by Austin Les and Ernesto Dominguez.  Mr. Dominguez is listed as "undocumented".  Hmm.... Look here at his bio.

We already have these people in Salem high schools, with NO dissension from the teachers.  Don't let this happen again!
