As for the abortion issue, I don't think it's up to us or our government to decide what a woman should or should not do with her own body. Doesn't the Constitution say "pursuit of happiness"? And I don't want the government telling me what I can or can't do with my body either...

As to Tammy's question about our respect for life, I am equally sad. We want these women to refrain from abortion, but nobody is willing to take care of that child for the long term as far as welfare, education, etc. We want them to have the baby, but then leave them to their own devices after the fact. That's the saddest part for me. You can't abort an unwanted child, but then nobody is going to help you after you do have it? How does that make sense? My issue is, if you want these girls to have the baby, someone needs to be willing to fork out the cash to take care of it. Kids are going to have sex no matter how hard we try to teach abstinence--dare I mention a certain hypocrite from Alaska? What are we supposed to with these unwanted babies? They're mostly just going to grow up unwanted and a blight on our system in the form of welfare and the criminal justice system.

I certainly don't have the answer, but I do know that the less government I have in my life the better. And since when do we want them to make decisions for us anyway? Isn't that the dreaded Socialism that's always being referred to? Or is it not Socialism when we agree with it?

And as to the question of respect for life, since when have we cared about it? The media doesn't show dead soldiers coming home and we certainly don't care about what goes on in the Third World. We allow kids to starve in this country every day. I think it comes down to that. Make them have the kids but there has to be something in place to help them care for that child. Ugh! I sound like a Democrat! I'm not responding to abortion posts anymore...

I hear a lot of people pointing fingers but nobody ever has a solution. By making abortion illegal, you create more government. You force the government to create welfare programs and assistance for unwed teens. I think we should leave it up to the individual to decide...The Blunt Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15058859470853324474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882109295181079525.post-28149979144262499192008-11-18T09:28:00.000-08:002008-11-18T09:28:00.000-08:00This comment has been removed by the author. The Blunt Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15058859470853324474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882109295181079525.post-87906227583005927042008-11-11T09:09:00.000-08:002008-11-11T09:09:00.000-08:00A young girl leaving her newborn baby to die in a ...A young girl leaving her newborn baby to die in a porta-potty... Unbelievable! And this isn't a one time event, there are awful stories like this all over America. What has this country come to? Where is our decency and respect for life? What happened to stepping up to the plate? Where are our spines and the high principals America was founded on? Where is our honor? What we have lost is truly heartbreaking.Tammy Bowershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12317395606161158164noreply@blogger.com
